Young woman set ablaze by mother-in-law

Chennai, Dec 4 (UNI) A 26-year-old housewife was charred to death as her mother-in-law allegedly set her ablaze following a petty quarrel at Korrukkupet here last night.

Police said Mangaiyarkkarasi and her mother-in-law Kanniyammal (55) picked up a quarrel at a birthday function. As Mangaiyarkkarasi was opposed to Kanniyammal's wish to take her grand daughter to her daughter's house nearby, a wordy duel ensued between the two.

The incident came to light when the neighbours heard the cries of Mangaiyarkkarasi, who had suffered third degree burns, for help.
