The security apparatus has been tightened, especially after the November 23 contemporaneous blasts in the Lucknow, Faizabad and Varanasi courts, which killed 13 and wounded over 70 others.

Besides maintaining vigil on all programmes planned to observe the demolition anniversary, police have been directed to remain alert in all the religious cities, including Ayodhya-Faizabad, Mathura, Varanasi and Agra.

''We are watching the movement of passengers at all the railway stations and bus depots...a thorough frisking has been ordered'', said Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order/Crime) Brij Lal.

Meanwhile, paramilitary outfit Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the state police have been asked to remain cautios at the Indo-Nepal border keeping in mind the past experiences. There had been reports that terrorists from Bangladesh were using the porous international border to gain access to UP to create law and order problems.
