Puducherry, Dec 4 (UNI) The Puducherry state origin SC Right Protection Movement today urged the territorial administration to order a CBI inquiry into the disbursement of loans to Adidravidars.
Movement organiser K Deivanayagam, addressing a press conference here alleged that largescale irregularities had taken place in the disbursement of loans to the Adidravidars of Bahour constituency through the Puducherry Adi Dravidar Development Corporation(PADCO).
He said Chief Minister N Rangasamy had assured to order a police inquiry after a memorandum in this regard was submitted to him.
However, the movement will not accept the police inquiry as it would not be a free and fair investigation with the Welfare Minister M Kandasamy in office.
Demanding that immediate action be taken against the officials involved in the loan disbursement scam, Mr Devianayagam alleged that minister Kandasamy had recommended the loan for 346 persons and Rs 17.60 lakh was disbursed. However, it was not known to whom the loan was given since only the name was there in the list without any address.
Pointing out that Kala, a woman who had committed suicide in 1996 as per the police record was given the loan and a same person was given loan by entering her name as wife of Shanmugham and daughter of Shanmugham, he said and sought action against the revenue official who had issued residence certificate to the woman who was already dead.
A letter has been sent to Congress president Sonia Gandhi detailing the irregularities committed by the Congress Government here, he added.
He demanded that minister Kandasamy be divested of the Adidravidar Development portfolio till the probe in the case was completed, disbursement of loan through PADCO suspended, and 1,192 persons be given loans in all the 28 constituencies as given in Bahour constituency.
