Ahmednagar, Dec 4 (UNI) Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Nandkumar Suryavanshi today issued notices against 17 people, including Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee, and asked them to deposit 75 per cent of the market value of the land that they had purchased at village Korahale in Rahata tehsil of the district before December 31.

The order also said the land would otherwise be forefeited to the Maharashtra government.

Rani Mukherjee had purchased 11,000 sq ft of land in the village from one Raman Kshirsagar, a farmer, six months ago. He sold the same plot of land to 16 others too.

As the plot is close to temple town of Shirdi, Rani wanted to build a bungalow on the land. In this regard, her father, Ram Mukherjee, approached the Tehsildar for inclusion of Rani's name in 7x12 extract. However, the officer told him that the actress' name could not be added to the extract as the transaction was illegal. The land officially belongs to Maharashtra State Farming Corporation, a government body.

Today, all the 17 people were present in SDO's office. Advovate Nanasaheb Choudhari appeared on behalf of Rani Mukherjee.
