New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Thousands of workers from 80 Central Public Sector undertakings across the country today held a rally in front of the Parliament House to protest against the policy of disinvestments, privatisations and special economic zones(SEZs).
The workers at the rally, called by Public Sector Employees National Confederation(PSENC), an industrial unit of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS), demanded early commencement of wage revision, improvement of promotion policy, new recruitment in worker cadres and regularisation of contract workers, among others.
The rally was presided over by PSENC president Gokul Jena.
Addressing the rally, BMS general secretary Uday Patwardhan said due to indiscriminate disinvestments and privatisation in view of globalisation and liberalisation, the natural economy has suffered as it has rendered workers jobless and added to unemployment.
The creation of SEZs, undoubtedly, will not only deprive farmers of their ancestral land farming unit but will also uproot them from cultural heritage, he decried.
