Mumbai, Dec 4 (UNI) Mazgaon Dock has signed a contract with Singapore-based Greatship Global Services for building two multi-purpose support vessels.
These are supply ships/pipe carriers designed to meet the general market, specifically for safer and economic field supply duties globally, a spokesperson said here today.
While the first vessel is to be delivered within 24 months, the second delivery will be made within 26 months' time frame, the spokesperson added.
Each vessel will have electric frequency-controlled propulsion system, driving two highly efficient azimuth thrusters and will have a dynamic proposition system as well.
The vessels are designed according to DNV Clean Class notations, which means lesser emission to the environment and will be registered under Maritime Port Authority of Singapore.
According to the spokesperson, the ships will be constructed on the slipway in the north yard of the Mazgaon Dock.
The Mazgaon Dock is one of the most heavily loaded shipyard in the country with defence orders for building three frigates, three destroyers and six submarines.
