Patiala, Dec 4 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir fought back bravely to score an impressive 388 runs in 100.4 overs in the second innings against Tripura on the penultimate day of the 4-day tie in Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) here today at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
The match is evenly poised as Tripura are reeling at 143 for 6 in 46 overs in the second innings and still require 48 runs for an outright victory tomorrow, the last day of the match.
J and K, 240 for 4 overnight, resumed their innings today on a confident note.
Sameer Ahmed scored a brilliant half century (52) to prop up the J and K innings. Parvez Rasool, who was unbeaten on 17 at close of play yesterday, pushed his score to 36 and Aditya Pratap scored a fluent 35 to consolidate J and K substantial total of 388.
For Tripura, Prashant Das bowled his heart out to capture 4 wickets, conceding 86 runs. Swapna Das also bagged 4 wickets, giving away 110 runs, while Rana Datta took 2 for 85.
In the second essay, Tripura are reeling at 143 for 6 in 46 overs at the end of the third day's play, still requiring 48 to win with only four wickets left, virtually the tail.
Nirupam Das scored 28. Kaushal Acharya, who is unbeaten on 43 and Swapna Das also unbeaten on 40 have raised hopes for victory, though the match can go either way when the play resumes tomorrow.
For J and K, Mohammad Muddassar and Manik Gupta bowled exceptionally well to capture 3 wickets each, giving away 47 and 48 runs respectively.
