New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) The Indian Government has taken up with Dhaka the issue of using Bangladeshi soil for anti-India activities by anti-Indian elements as well as terrorist groups, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Home Affairs V Radhika Selvi said the Government of Bangladesh has assured at the highest level that it would not allow its territory to be used for activities inimical to India.
The Indian GovernmEnt has emphasised to them the need for concrete and sustained action towards fulfilling this assurance.
In response to another question on whether the Goverment proposes to install state-of-the-art cameras along the Indian border for surveillance, Ms Selvi said the Government has decided to install hi-tech electronic surveillance equipment on the International borders of the country for effective management of the borders.
She said the equipment includes Night Vision Devices (NVD), hand Held Thermal Imagers (HHTI), Long Range Reconnaissance and Observation System (LORROS), Mobile surveillance Vehicles (MSV), Battle Field Surveillance Radars (BFSR), direction Finders and High Powered Telescope. Certain equipment like HHTI, LORROS and BFSR have already been procured/deployed.
