Hooda orders probe into Karnal lathicharge
Chandigarh, Dec 4 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today ordered an administrative inquiry into the recent lathicharge at Karnal in which some media persons were injured.
Mr Hooda said Rohtak Division Commissioner J P Kaushik would ''look into the circumstances leading to the injuries caused to media persons as a result of lathicharge on some persons who were agitating in Karnal on December 1.'' Mr Hooda, while interacting with a delegation of mediapersons from Karnal at Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi, expressed his regrets over the ''unfortunate incident'' and assured them of full protection.
He directed the concerned officers to get the damaged cameras of mediapersons replaced at the expense of the state government.
The Chief Minister assured the mediapersons that stern action would be taken against those officers who would be found guilty during the investigation.
Mr K B Pandit, President of Haryana Patarkar Sangh and Mr Vijay Sabarwal, President of Haryana Accrediated Journalists Union, appreciated the Chief Minister's orders in this regard.
