New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) A phone call threatening that a Kanpur-bound 'Indian' aircraft would be hijacked today sent security agencies and the authorities at the Delhi airport into a tizzy, forcing them to recall the plane soon after its take-off .

A senior airport official said the plane, with 40-odd passengers on board, returned soon after take-off when the Uttar Pradesh Police informed the airport authorities about the call threatening that it would be skyjacked.

The caller, who is yet to be identified, also tried to raise a bomb scare, saying an explosive had been planted in the plane.

Anti-hijack and anti-sabotage teams immediately sprang into action the moment they got the information about the ''possible hijack''.

All the passengers were safe and thoroughly checked after the plane made an emergency landing, the official added.
