Government denies massive teachers absenteeism
New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Amid complaints of massive absteeism of teachers in rural schools, the government today said there was 80 per cent attendance of teachers at the national level.
Minister of State for Human Resources Development M A A Fatmi told the Lok Sabha that a recent independent study commissioned by the government revealed an average national teacher attendance rate of 80 per cent.
In a written reply, he said his ministry had advised states to monitor teacher attenance in elementary schools and put in place mechanisms to improve teacher presence and accountability.
