Kolkata, Dec 4 (UNI) New British High Commissioner to India Richard Stagg will arrive here tomorrow on a two-day visit.
During his visit, he will hold discussions with Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at separate meetings.
A release, issued by the British Deputy High Commission, quoted Mr Stagg as saying the UK would work with India to address some of the major challenges, whether in Afghanistan or Myanmar, based on commitement to democracy and human rights.
" In addition, India and the UK both have direct experience of terroism and we will continue to promote closer international cooperation in the struggle to defeat this scourge, " he said.
On the business side, Mr Stagg said the UK was keen on seeing more co-operation across the board from financial services and infrastructure to automotive and aerospace engineering pharmaceuticals, ICT and retail, adding Indian investment in the UK had shot up to ten billion dollars this year.
During his visit, Mr Stagg will also visit a department for international development-supported project in Khardaha Puranibazar slum to see first hand DFID work there.
