BJP asks Congress to name Dalit CM for new assembly
Shimla, Dec 4 (UNI) Taking strong exception to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's statement that the Congress will name a Dalit as its chief ministerial candidate for the next assembly elections, the BJP today said it should name its chief ministerial candidate for these election.
"The Congress should be courageous enough to name a Dalit CM in these elections if it claims to be their well-wisher and not in the next assembly elections due in 2012-13," party's state secretary H N Kashyap said in a release here.
"The Congress has been befooling the people of state by making false promises and the announcement that it would name a Dalit CM in the next elections is an attempt to hoodwink them," he said.
''Politically weakened, Mr Singh has not been able to get himself projected as the party's chief ministerial candidate and therefore is playing this card,'' he added.
