'Welcome' is may last major comedy of 2007: Akshay Kumar

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who ends 2007 on a successful tryst with the box office with ''Namastey London'', 'Heyy Babby'' and ''Bhool Bhulaiyaa'' says his upcoming venture ''Welcome'' will be his last major comedy of the year.

''Welcome'', directed by Anees Bazmi, a multi starrer comedy is set for release on December 20 on the eve of Eid and Christmas.

The film marks the return of the Akshay-Katrina pairing for a third time, besides assembling the biggest ensemble cast comprising Paresh Rawal, Anil Kapoor, Feroz Khan, Nana Patekar and Mallika Sherawat.

Akshay, who is presently shooting for ''Singh Is King'' says, ''Earlier, everyone said I was synonymous with action. I bagged the 'Khiladi' tag. Now with my last few films being successful comedies, I've become synonymous with comedy.'' He said, he was satisfied about his films' performance at the box office this year. ''I'm happy that the three comedies I did this year had the cash registers at the box-office ringing. My fans will enjoy 'Welcome' during the festive season and it is my last major comedy of 2007,'' he added.

Replying to questions, Akshay said he was not bidding adieu to comedy. ''Comedy comes as naturally to me as action. Next year I have a variety of films on the anvil. I am getting back to action with 'Chandni Chowk To China and Tashan' . But for now I want everyone to concentrate on 'Welcome' and welcome the new year with a bang,'' he said.
