Chennai, Dec 3 (UNI) The visa section of the British High Commission in New Delhi and Deputy High Commissions in Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai would be closed from December 7 to 11.
The closure was to facilitate further technical upgrades and staff training in preparation of introduction of biometric data collection as part of the UK visa application process in India, a release said here today.
On December 12, applicants for a UK visa would be required to visit a visa application centre, operated by the UK visa's commercial partner, VFS Global, and trained staff would take finger scans and a digital photograph as part of the visa application process.
The biometric data collection process would be quick and simple, taking less than five minutes. There would be no additional charge for it, the release added.
