Patiala, Dec 3 (UNI) Rookies Jammu and Kashmir lost their nerves and were forced to play "follow on" after being bundled out for a paltry 77 in 31.3 overs in the first innings by penetrative Tripura bowling attack on the second day of the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy (Under-19) here today at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.
Overnight 4 for no loss in one over, J and K showed no sign of a fightback and wickets fell at regular intervals with Tripura bowlers right on top. Only Ankit Kumar (16) and Imran Haroon (18) managed to get into double figures. The other J&K batsmen succumbed quickly to the hostile Tripura bowling attack. P Paul was the wrecker-in-chief, capturing 4 for 41. Rana Dutta took 3 for 29 and Swapna Das bagged 2 for 3 runs.
Tripura having scored 275 runs yesterday in the first innings imposed the follow on.
In the second innings, J and K played with a little grit today and at close of play, they were 240 for 4 in 59 overs. Adil Rishi scored a scintillating century (112), hitting 13 fours and 2 mighty sixes. Imran Haroon too was in the thick of runs and he cut the wearied Tripura bowling attack to shreds, scoring 95 with the help of 11 boundaries.
Parvez Rasool is unbeaten on 17 and tomorrow's play will indicate the fate of the match as two days are still left for play. J and K now have a lead of 42 with six wickets in hand. For Tripura, Swapna Das bowled well to capture 3 wickets, conceding 63 runs, while Prashant Das got 1 for 55.
