Patel Engineering bags Rs 118.95 cr order for Koyna Dam

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) Patel Engineering, a civil-infrastructure construction company, has bagged an order worth Rs 118.85 crore for double lake tapping and other civil works of the Koyna Dam Foot Power House, Government of Maharashtra Water Resources Department.

The scope of work for the project also includes construction of head race tunnel, tail surge shaft, pressure shaft, intake structure and barrage. Norconsult A S from Norway will be the consultant for the project, a release said today.

Lake Tap is a solution in which a tunnel pierces the lake or sea bottom. The principale in lake tapping involves running a tunnel towards and under a lake, leaving a short rock plug to the lake floor beneath the tapping level.

Patel Engineering has till date completed 160 Km of tunnelling work, 75 Dams, and 30 hydroelectric projects in India and 30 micro tunnelling projects in North America.
