Village
Councils
(VCs),
under
the
Mizofed
gas
dealer's
area
in
Aizawl,
have
threatened
to
tender
mass
resignation,
alleging
that
their
efforts
for
fair
distribution
of
cooking
gas
had
proved
futile.
Despite the fact that some members of the village councils stood guard at the Mizofed gas showroom at Bawngkawn on December one to prevent diversion of gas cylinders, as many as 200 cylinders were diverted from a truck load of around 306 cylinders, they alleged.
''Out of the stipulated cylinders, only 100 were being distributed in the area and the remaining more than 200 were being distributed elsewhere. On December one, 100 cylinders were sent to the Kawrthah village whereas the other 100 were distributed in the Electric Veng locality, both outside the Mizofed jurisdiction,'' the members said.
''In the wake of our protest against the unfair distribution of cooking gas from the agent, Mizofed manager Lalnuntluanga, who was not guilty of the irregularities, was transferred by authorities,'' the VCs said.
They also opposed the transfer of the ''innocent'' official and demanded revocation of the transfer order.
The VCs also alleged that Mizofed chairman Rohmingliana was responsible for the authorities' inaction.
