J B Group to organise tennis tourney in Hong Kong

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) The J B Group, along with Hong Kong Tennis Patron's Association (TPA), today announced that the J B Group Classic Tennis annual champion's tournament will be held in Hong Kong in January 2008.

The tournament will see the cream of women's talent in action, including the reigning Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams, Russian super star Maria Sharapova, world no four and 'French Open' finalist Ana Ivanovic and world no 7 Russian Anna Chakvetadze, who has won 4 WTA tournaments this year.

Apart from these, world no 9 Daniela Hantuchova and World no 11 Elena Dementieva have also confirmed their participation, a release issued here stated.

''This is a glittering line-up and promises a great start to our partnership,'' said Bhupen Surani, Chairman of J B Group, the main sponsor of the event.

The J B Group Classic 2008 will be played from January 2-5. It will follow a similar format as previous years, with winners coming from both Gold and Silver groups. The format enables the fans to see each player atleast twice.

''From top-to-bottom you could argue it is the strongest field Hong Kong has ever seen. It's also very diverse, with players from America to China, and Siberia to Slovenia,'' said Jatin Chutke, Vice President- JB Group.

He further added, ''This is the first of a three year commitment to sponsor Hong Kong's premier tennis tournament, a move very much aligned with our growth strategy, our mission to boost the business, community environment and to showcase Hong Kong on the world tennis circuit.'' JB Group, is the 1st Indian Company to sponsor a tennis tournament in Hong Kong.
