IBM, top player in Indian application deployment software market
Bangalore, Dec 3 (UNI) IDC has ranked IBM's WebSphere as the market leader in the Application Deployment Software market in India.
According to IDC Packaged Software Tracker 2006, IBM WebSphere's market share in India stood at 28 per cent. With Indian companies scaling their operations to take on competition at international levels, technology adoption had seen a substantial growth, IBM said in a release here.
The domestic market for WebSphere grew significantly due to increased globalisation and integration activities that drove the deployment of web-enabled applications, it said.
According to Mr Praveen Sengar, Manager-Software and Services Research, IDC India, ''most organisations today depend on technology driven innovations to ensure sustained competitive advantage. Given this, software implementation that brings in flexibility and faster integration becomes imperative. More so, in emerging markets like India where competition is becoming intense and organisations are increasingly scaling up operations, application deployment software as a category is expected to grow at an year-on-year rate of 27 per cent (2007 over 2006).'' IBM had bagged significant customers in the previous financial year and had seen maximum traction in the telecom and banking sectors in WebSphere adoption. With customers like the State Bank of India, Max NewYork Life, HDFC, Tata Sky and BSNL, IBM had emerged as the most preferred partner in application software, the release said.
