Ensure free polls in HP, directs Deputy CEC
Dharamshala, Dec 3 (UNI) Deputy Chief Election Commissioner R Bala Krishnan today directed the election officials of three districts of Una, Kangra nd Chamba to take all steps to ensure free, fair and peaceful polls on December 19.
Addressing a meeting attended by election officers of the three districts, besides state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manisha Nanda Divisional Commissioner B K Aggarwal, he asked them to take effective steps to conduct smooth polling in remote and hard polling stations in their areas.
Mr Krishnan asked them to ensure that bogus voting should be prevented at any cost besides providing creating awareness about the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs).
He asked Kully Deputy Commissioner to provide the list of the voters who were at present residing at Baijnath constituency and had cast their votes in the first phase of the polling in Chamba district so that their names could be deleted.
Speaking on the occasion Kangra DC Ashwani Kapoor said that there were 10,80,896 voters in this ditrict and 84.31 per cent voters have been issued photo election cards.
He said that there were 1275 polling stations in the district with 284 as sensitive and 182 polling stations as hyper sensitive.
District SP Gyneshvar Singh gave details of the security arrangements made for ensuring smooth polls on December 19 in the district.
