38 chargesheeted in a fake degree scam case

Patna, Dec 03(UNI) The Bihar vigilance bureau today submitted chargesheet against 38 people, including the former Vice-Chancellor (VC) of B N Mandal University(BNMU), Madhepura, in a fake degree scam case.

The chargesheet was submitted before the special vigilance court under various sections of Indian Penal Code(IPC) and prevention of corruption act.

Former BNMU VC Professor Malay Kumar Chatterjee, its former Registrar R K Yadav alias Ravi and a former principal of T P college Madhepura were among the chargesheeted in the case.

The case was related to fake degrees issued from BNMU. An FIR was lodged in 2000 based on the complaints from West Bengal government and Vaishali and Begusarai districts in the state for alleged use of these degrees for appointment and promotion in various educational institutions in Bihar and West Bengal.
