Patna, Dec 2 (UNI) Taking strong note of the accident of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport, the BJP in Bihar today lambasted the UPA government at the Centre for the increase in accidents in the state.

''After trains, now even plane journeys are not 'safe' due to the 'inefficiency' of the UPA government at the Centre,'' the party said here in a statement.

BJP State President Radha Mohan Singh and its spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha told newspersons here that the passengers were unsafe even at the airports and that the ''recent accidents were an open testimony to it''.

They demanded the government to review the security arrangements to prevent such accidents and asked the government to provide adequate security.

They alleged that the driver of the boarding bus was 'talking' on his cell phone, while carrying passengers to the tarmac. On spotting an aircraft coming from the opposite direction on the runway, the driver suddenly applied brakes, following which Mr Modi fell down and was injured.

They said that Mr Modi was scheduled to board the plane on way to Ahmedabad for election campaign when the accident took place at the airport in Delhi.

Mr Modi was rushed to Spinal Injury Hospital in Vasantkunj by his private secretary and the protocol officer of Bihar, where doctors pronounced him to be out of danger. Following the accident, Mr Sushil Kumar Modi had to cancel the proposed election campaign in Gujarat.
