Mentally deranged man kills cousin, fellow inmate in lock-up

Lucknow, Dec 2 (UNI) Four police personnel, including an inspector in charge, were suspended after a mentally deranged man killed a fellow inmate inside a police lock-up here today.

The man was put in Krishnanagar police station lock-up after he murdered his cousin last night.

Police here said Vimlesh allegedly killed his cousin Vidyasagar in Krishnanagar area after which he was arrested and put in the police lock-up.

In the lock-up, he fatally wounded a theft accused, Rahul, this morning, who later succumbed at the King George's Medical University and Hospital trauma centre.

Finding inspector in charge Ajit Singh, head constable Banke Lal, sub inspector Suresh Kumar Verma and constable Shiv Dutt prima facie guilty of dereliction of duty, SSP (Lucknow) Akhil Kumar suspended the quartet.

Circle officer (Alambagh) is probing into the matter.
