Mahaboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 2 (UNI) Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy today said the current breed of CPI (Maoist) naxals had forgotten party ideology and resorted to attacks on innocent people and tribals.
Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Reddy said Maoists were proceeding in the wrong direction by attacking tribals and innocent people. This would not help the party to get people's support in future.
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy said the naxals lost people's support by adopting anti-progressive ideology, in the recent times.
Earlier, both the leaders consoled the family member of Amanagallu Congress Mandal Praja Parishad President Pantu Naik who was shot dead by Maoists yesterday in the district. They later took part in the last rites.
The Home Minister assured the government would provide all assitance to the family, including a job to one of them.
A group of naxals, armed with AK-47 rifles, shot from close range at the 45-year-old Naik killing him on the spot.
The local Congress leader, who was on a ''Shiva Deeksha,'' was coming out of the temple when he was killed.
The Congress leader was not in the hit list of naxals, the police maintained, adding he was perhaps targeted as he was in the ruling party.
