New Delhi, Dec 2: Emerson process management and Cisco, leading IT networking companies, are collaborating to offer wireless technology to improve productivity, safety, and operational efficiency for manufacturing companies.
The technology extends asset optimisation and predictive maintenance, helping manufacturers avoid costly, unexpected process interruptions and shutdowns while optimising performance and the life of processing equipments.
It will aim in maximising output and helping in responding to the safety incidents as well as reducing emission.
''Before this technology, it was not easy to monitor every process, like in a big oil and gas plant, with a systematic and standardised efficiency,'' Emerson Process Management President John Berra told reporters Using our wireless technology, our customers in the Oil&Gas, Petrochemical, Power sector can discover the problem which use to go undetected, quickly and easily, he added.
The field trials over the last three years have demonstrated greater than 99 per cent network reliability and 90 per cent less installed cost than wireless equivalent, he informed.
Emerson, a global supplier of products, services, and solutions that measure, analyze, control, automate, and improve process-related operations. It had a revenue of 22 billion dollars in the last fiscal, with six billion dollars coming from process management segment.
