Kolkata, Dec 2 (UNI) The people of West Bengal, suffering from diabetes, will soon get an easy and alternative panacea for the disease as camel milk powder will soon hit the markets here.
Doctors in Rajasthan have come out with a new treatment for diabetes, not with insulin injections or bittergourd juices, but with the milk of the Ship of the Desert.
Head of Diabetes Care and Research Centre, Bikaner S P Medical College, Dr R P Agarwal has claimed that the camel milk helps in curing the disease caused due to high level of sugar in the blood.
Dr Agarwal, who had been researching since last seven years, recently held a joint research held with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and found out that the camel milk helps in reducing the blood sugar level.
In a programme organised by the Research Centre for the Society of Diabetes in India here, Dr Agarwal also claimed that people in Rajasthan, who have consumed camel milk regularly, would never suffer from the disease.
Recently ICMR had asked Dr Agarwal to submit a report after researching the gene of the these tribal people.
''I have done a study on 2000 people from Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner, who drink camel milk, and have found that their blood sugar level was normal,'' he said, Informing that people of West Bengal would soon get the taste of camel milk as a machine for manufacturing camel milk powder had started and production would start from January next and the dosage will be available later on.
