BJP leaders to kick start poll campaigns in Gujarat and HP

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) The BJP will go all out to reach out to the voters for the coming assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh with the party planning to organise 250 rallies and meetings to be addressed by the top party leadership.

Mr Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, BJP vice-president and incharge of Central Election Management and Coordination committee said the party would reach out to every nook and cranny in the second round of polls for 95 seats in Gujarat and 65 seats in Himachal Pradesh.

He said senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani would campaign in Pattan and Mehsana while BJP President Rajnath Singh would launch his poll campaign at Sabarkanta and Sarkhei in Ahmedabad. Mr M Venkaiah Naidu will address rallies in Kheda and Vadodara while another senior leader Sushma Swaraj will muster support for the party in Godhra, Nadiad and Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will address rallies at several places in South Gujarat like Ahwa, Dharampur, Surat and Ankleshwar. Senior party leaders Murli Manohar Joshi, Arun Jaitley, Anant Kumar, Vinay Katiyar and Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh would also address public meetings. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi and former Chief Ministers B S Yeddyurappa of Karnataka and Arjun Munda of Jharkhand, cricketer Navjot Sidhu, cine star turned Rajya Sabha MPs Hema Malini and Shatrughan Sinha would all be at the service of the party in the crucial elections.

In Himachal Pradesh, Mr Advani would start his campaign from the Kullu Valley while Mr Rajnath Singh would commence the campaign at Solan. Dr Murli Manohar Joshi and Mr Naidu will address rallies in Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur and Hamirpur respectively. The party would harp on issues like corruption and misgovernance.

BJP's chief ministerial nominee P K Dhumal would address meetings along with former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shantha Kumar.

In terms of time allocation, Mr Advani will spend six days in Gujarat and four days in Himachal while Mr Rajnath Singh will provide seven days in Gujarat and five days in Himachal Pradesh. Dr Joshi will spend four days in Gujarat and three days in HP.
