Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: Orissa Tourism Minister Debi Prasad Mishra commissioned the Ocean World Water Park, the first of its kind in the state, promoted by three Non-Resident Indians.

The water park, established at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore at Kurang Sasan, would be opened for the general public towards the end of December.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion yesterday, Mr Mishra said the water park would serve as a major family entertainment spot for the people of the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and the tourists visiting the state.

Designed in the line of the Water Kingdom by the Essel Group in Mumbai and Aquatica of Kolkata, the water park will also have a Food Court in its premises.

Mumbai-based Aryahant, which has the expertise of constructing water parks, both in the country and abroad, has set up this project.

The minister said the location of the water park would be ideal for the tourists from West Bengal, who would like to visit Konark, as it would fall on the Konark-Jayadev Peetha tourist circuit.
