Vajra Corps celebrates World AIDS Day

Jalandhar, Dec 1 (UNI) On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Vajra Corps organised a workshop here today for the young troops of the station with less than 10 years of service.

The workshop was organised on the theme of 'Stop AIDS: Keep The Promise' by Vajra Corps' Station Health Organisation (SHO) for defence personnel, which was attended by 210 personnel from different station and outstation units.

Major Rakhi Dhawan, Officer Commanding SHO, conducted an interactive session on ''What can we do and how'' for the participants and emphasized the role of prevention in combating the diseases in Armed Forces in absence of any effective vaccine.

Short Educative movies were screened for the viewers on HIV/AIDS during the Workshop and informative printed material was distributed and an exhibition was also organised for all the troops.

A poster making competition ''Expression'' was organised on the theme of ''AIDS KA GYAN, BACHAYE JAAN'' by the SHO for the students of Army College of Nursing.

The students exhibited their creativity and depicted novel ways of spreading the message of prevention of HIV through their paintings. A total of 38 students participated in the competition.
