Chandigarh, Dec 1 (UNI) The Punjab Government today banned the screening of the Madhuri Dixit-starrer 'Aaja Nachle' as a preventive measure towards maintaining peace and law and order in the state.
The decision comes in the wake of protests over certain lines in the title song in the film.
Chief Minister's Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said the ban decision which comes into force with immediate effect, ''is dictated by considerations of safety of life and property of the people of the state''.
The screening of the film has already been banned by the Uttar Pradesh Government. UP Chief Minister Mayawati has already asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to impose a blanket ban on the screening of the film throughout the country as the title song contains certain derrogatory remarks pertaining to a certain community.
