Oppn stages walkout in Council at fag end of winter session
Nagpur, Dec 1 (UNI) Opposition members staged a walkout at the fag end of the winter session in the Maharashtra Legislative Council expressing dissatisfaction that Minister for Employment, Guarantee Scheme (EGS) Harshavardhan Patil had not tabled the additional information that he had assured to about a starred question that had come up for discussion earlier.
The walkout came just before Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh was to read the Governor S M Krishna's order proroguing the House.
Parshuram Uparkar (Shiv Sena) and others reminded Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh that the Minister had not yet tabled his reply to a starred question last week.
Minister of State for EGS Rana Jagjitsinh Patil said the required information had not been collected as yet.
This angered the opposition members, who said that they had raised the issue in the House in the afternoon and Deputy Chairman Vasant Davkhare had directed the government to table the information before the current session ended. However, the Minister had failed to do so, they said, and walked out of the House.
