MP not getting due share from Chambal canal water: Chouhan

Bhopal, Dec 1 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will take up with his Rajasthan counterpart Vasundhara Raje the issue of releasing due share of water to the state from the Chambal canal.

''At present, the water being provided by Rajasthan from the canal is less than 50 per cent share of Madhya Pradesh,'' said Mr Chouhan at a meeting of the Major Projects Control Board here yesterday.

The Chief Minister said he would take up the matter of providing water from the Chambal canal with Rajasthan Chief Minister.

Mr Chouhan also ordered to prepare a Rs 60 crore proposal for lining of Tawa Dam canals to prevent wastage of water.

The meeting also cleared the technical qualification of tenderers for the water supply project of Gwalior from Kaketo and Pesari reservoirs through Tighara reservoir, official sources said.
