Nagpur, Dec 1 (UNI) In what is probably the first instance of its kind in Maharashtra, the government today suspended the Additional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Buldhana Zilla Parishad in Vidarbha region on charges of failing to attend a briefing session with Minister for Rural Development Vijay Singh Mohite-Patil before a discussion pertaining to his department in the Legislative Assembly.

The orders suspending the officer, identified as B N Ubale, had been issued by Mr Mohite-Patil today, official sources told UNI tonight.

Mr Ubale had been asked to brief Mr Mohite-Patil earlier this week regarding a half-hour discussion that was scheduled to be held in the Legislative Assembly, the sources said, adding, the official did not attend the briefing session despite clear instructions that the CEO or the Additional CEO should brief the minister concerned when an issue related to their organisation was scheduled to be discussed in the House.

Not only did Mr Ubale not attend the briefing, he sent a very junior engineer to brief the minister, the sources informed.

This was probably the first instance in the state that such a senior level officer had been suspended, they said.

Similarly, the government suspended a Block Development Officer (BDO) posted in Sindhudurg district, identified only as Mr Tinaikar, for failing to provide information about a starred question that had been submitted in the Legislative Assembly, the sources added.
