Hyderabad, Dec 1 : The Cyberabad Police claimed to have solved the mystery behind the alleged kidnapping of an 18- year-old-girl by taking her into custody along with her lover in Bangalore.
Producing Swapna and Mahender before the press here, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Prabhakar Reddy said yesterday ''the special teams probing the case traced them to Bangalore and brought the couple to the city this morning.'' He said Ms Swapna had not been kidnapped as her parents had claimed. She had escaped from the house with the assistance of Mahender's friends and went to Bangalore where he was working as a driver.
Mahender said ''we have been in love for the last six months. But our parents have not accepted it. We decided to get married with the assitance of my friends. Babu, Surender and Raju brought Swapna to Bangalore.
''We got married in a temple near Kudumulakunta at Bangalore on November 26.'' Swapna said ''my parents have known about my affair with Mahender.
They did not allow me to continue with it. Nobody kidnapped me and nobody forced me to marry Mahender.
Based on phone numbers collected from a telephone booth located near Swapna's house, police came to conclusion she went to Karnataka. Swapna's parents had lodged a complaint with Sanat Nagar Police Station saying their daughter was kidnapped by a auto-rickshaw driver from their house on November 23.
Police booked a case of missing after receiving complaint. More than 20 special teams were formed to probe the case.
