Dubai, Dec 1 (UNI) Indian expatriates in Bahrain, who are seeking amnesty but unable to bear the expenses of leaving the Gulf state, would be getting a free flight ticket to India.
It has been decided that tickets would be donated to the economically weaker amnesty seekers.
Indian Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty is heading the task of choosing those who can best benefit from the free tickets, the Gulf News reported here.
This is an endeavour to save these seekers from being abused.
Reiterating it, Indian Institute for Performing Arts Director Monu Mathew, who donated the tickets yesterday, said, ''This does not mean that we want them to leave, but we are only trying to help them not get arrested or used.'' ''Most of them are poor labourers, who haven't seen their families and wives for years because they couldn't afford to go back,'' he added.
