IGNOU to launch courses on HIV/AIDS, Family Education

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) On the World AIDS Day, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today announced the launch of academic programmes on HIV and Family Education.

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and UNICEF are collaborating with IGNOU in developing and launching courses on HIV/AIDS and on Adolescence and Family Education which will be compulsory courses for all the B.Ed students of IGNOU from 2008, an university statement said.

The university shall also launch Masters programme in Social Work (MSW) and Diploma in Revised HIV/AIDS and Family Education from 2008.

Soon, some more optional courses on HIV/AIDS, family life education and substance abuse will be on offer from 2008 in all the BDP programmes which will enable thousands of BA, B Sc and B.Com students to choose courses on HID/AIDS and related topics from the BDP programmes package.

These announcements were made by the university authorities at the function at the university campus.
