'Food for work' scheme to be implemented in UT

Puducherry, Dec 1 (UNI) Puducherry Agriculture Minister V Vaithilingam today said that the 'food for work' scheme would be implemented in the Union Territory soon.

Inagurating a function to mark the World Disabled Day at Kariyamanickam near here, he said a survey revealed that there were 1.60 lakh BPL families in Puducherry. The Centre had ensured a fund of Rs one crore for the food for work scheme, for these BPL families, he added.

Mr Vaithilingam said if two SHGs join together the administration would provide two acres of land to them, in which they could start a brick manufacturing unit.
