Chandigarh, Dec 1 (UNI) The Congress today described the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) move of installing a portrait of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the Sikh Museum at Harmandar Sahib Complex as a ''conspiracy to encourage terrorism in the state once again'' and called for a meeting of all secular parties to discuss the issue on Monday.
While talking to media persons after a meeting of Punjab Congress legislators and senior leaders, state Congress president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said a party delegation will soon meet the Governor, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister and submit memoranda demanding prompt removal of all the pictures of terrorist leaders from SGPC museum, Gurdwaras and public places.
''The moves like allowing SGPC members to flaunt red light on their vehicles, providing them with security and installing Bhinderanwale's protrait indicate that there is a conspiracy to allow terrorism to raise its head in the state once again,'' Ms Bhattal alleged.
She asked the Akali Dal government to explain the ''agenda behind the SAD-dominated SGPC's move about installation of Bhinderanwale's portrait and clarify over which of his achievements has he been granted this honour.'' She also asserted that to honour a man ''who had been responsible for loss of thousands of lives in the state, was an insult to Sikhism, and Congress strongly condemned the move.'' The PPCC chief also announced that Congress would hold district and block level rallies across the state to caution people and build opinon against this ''conspiracy''.
She also demanded that the BJP clarify its stand on the matter.
