BJP dubs Sachar report divisive; dissociates from it
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) Dubbing the Sachar Committee report on Muslims ''divisive'', BJP deputy leader in the Lok Sabha V K Malhotra today dissociated his party from it when Mohammed Salim (CPI-M) sought its implementation.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the lower house, Mr Salim reminded the UPA government that the report was tabled in the House this day a year ago and said it was unfortunate that it had still not been implemented. There was nothing much to commend about the follow-up action reported to the House by Minority Affairs Minister A R Antulay, he added.
When Devendra Prasad Yadav (RJD) said it was essential to bring a 15 per cent strong minority into the mainstream to strengthen the unity of the nation, Mr Malhotra stood up, saying the party opposed it on the ground that it would divide the nation.
He announced dissociation of his party from the Sachar report.
