New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) After a successful summer of releases, including the critically acclaimed 'Life In a Metro', 'The Namesake' and 'The Blue Umbrella', it has been a rocking start by UTV motion pictures with its latest release 'Goal' winning rave reviews and encouraging audience response in India and abroad.
Seeking to carry on the excellent start to the Winter, UTV Motion Pictures has an interesting line up of films including the Aamir Khan-starrer 'Taare Zameen Par', the Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar-starrer 'Welcome' and 'Jodha Akbar' starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, which are set for theatrical release in the coming months.
Close on the heels of the release of 'Goal', based on the theme of a struggling South Asian football club's dramatic rise to glory in the UK club leagues, on November 23, comes the release next month of two very different movies - each a unique experience in its own right.
Releasing on December 21 is 'Taare Zameen Par', produced and directed by superstar Aamir Khan.
UTV Motion Pictures will market and distribute the film worldwide except for India. One of the most awaited films of the year, 'Taare Zameen Par' is Aamir Khan's directorial debut.
Also releasing on December 21 is 'Welcome', directed by Anees Bazmee, the director of the smash hit 'No Entry'.
'Welcome', produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, features one of the biggest star casts ever assembled for a Hindi film - Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat, Paresh Rawal and Feroz Khan. This rip roaring comedy will be released worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures.
Releasing in January next year is the widely anticipated 'Jodha Akbar'. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the writer-director of the Academy Award nominated 'Lagaan' and starring the reigning superstars of the Indian film industry, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, 'Jodha Akbar' is the untold love story of the greatest Mughal emperor who ruled India, Jalaluddin Mohammad Akbar, and a fiery young Rajput princess, Jodha.
It has been a good year for UTV with 'Life In A Metro', 'Namesake', 'The Blue Umbrella' and, now, 'Dhan Dhanadhan Goal' earning rave reviews and enthusiastic audience response at home and abroad.
Earlier this year, 'Life In A Metro' earned the distinction of having its screenplay invited in the prestigious library of the Oscars Academy in the US.
Then, 'The Namesake' won plaudits for its brilliant storyline and career-best performances from its lead actors Tabu and Irrfan Khan.
'The Blue Umbrella' too earned critical acclaim and was selected as the best Children's film at the National awards announced last month.
UTV's latest venture 'Dhan Dhanadhan Goal' became the first Indian film to get a simultaneous release in Pakistani theatres along with the rest of the world when it released in theatres in the neighbouring country last week.
'Taare Zameen Par', 'Welcome' and 'Jodha Akbar' too have evoked tremendous anticipation in film circles and are among the most awaited films of the year.
