Varanasi, Nov 30 (UNI) The resident doctors of Sir Sunder Lal Hospital of the Benaras Hindu University (BHU) today went on indefinite strike, paralysing its functioning.

The resident doctors were protesting the alleged misbehaviour by the relatives of Kashi Vidyapeeth Vice-Chancellor S C Kushwaha last evening.

The resident doctors alleged Prof Kushwaha's relatives misbehaved with the doctors on duty in ICU and beat one of their colleagues.

While senior doctors resumed work on Prof Kushwaha's apology, the residents remained adamant and at a meeting last night decided to go strike work indefinitely from this morning.

They are demanding the arrest of culprits and adequate security to them.

Sir Sunder Lal Hospital is one of the biggest and most modern hospitals in eastern Uttar Pradesh. It not only caters to the region, but also people from western districts of Bihar.
