New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court today cleared the decks for the closure of country's first amusement park, Appu Ghar, located here in Pragati Maiden.
A bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and Aftab Alam directed the government and International Amusement Limited (IAL), owners of Appu Ghar, to hand over the possession of 12 acres of land to the Supreme Court and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Out of the 12 acres of land, 1.5 acres will go to the DMRC.
Today's order came on a petition filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) seeking directions to IAL and the government to hand over the land to the Aper Court for construction of lawyer's chambers and setting up of administrative blocks, auditorium, and parkings for the Supreme Court.
The apex court, however, fixed February 19 for the final disposal of all the petitions pending in the court.
The court has also directed that the possession of land should be handed over to the Supreme Court as well as to the DMRC, till the next date of hearing.
