Panaji, Nov 30: A Goa-based NGO today demanded a judicial probe into the multi-crore-rupee land scam surrounding the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat at Dona Paula plateau to expose the politicians behind the fraud.

The NGO, Utt Goenkara, had also dashed a letter to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi giving her details of the scam sought to be legitimised and given sanctity by misusing the name of her late husband and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Its spokesman and social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues said it was now in public that IT parks and SEZ's in Goa were a real estate fraud mooted by former Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane and now being vigorously pursued by Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.

The huge money, allegedly amassed by the ministers and a part of which they splashed at the last assembly elections, is a testimony of this scam, he added.

Urging Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to immediately divest Mr Narvekar of the Finance portfolio, Adv Rodrigues said Goa's exchequer was very unsafe and insecure in the hands of this Finance Minister who, by his past track record, was out to silently but surely systematically loot this state.

He further demanded the CM to scrap all IT parks and SEZs as they were introduced without any study or application of mind but solely by certain politicians to make a fortune by selling Goa's already scarce land.

Adv Rodrigues had called upon the people of Goa to stage a united battle against SEZs and IT parks.
