Chennai, Nov 30 (UNI) The Madras High Court today admitted a petition filed by the son of a retired IAS officer, seeking acquittal in a murder case.

Admitting the petition filed by Raja, son of retired IAS officer Adhimoolam, a division bench comprising Justices D Murugesan and V Periyakaruppiah ordered notice to the police returnable within one week.

The petitioner, who is in Puzhal Central Jail, also sought release on bail.

The petition was filed after Thiruvalur District Sessions Court sentenced him to a double-life imprisonment in connection with the murder of an AIADMK functionary M R Ravi last year.

The Sessions Court had awarded double-life sentence to 13 accused, including Raja, in the case recently.
