Raipur, Nov 30 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Assembly was briefly adjourned following noisy scenes after opposition Congress members demanded resignation of Public Works Department Minister Rajesh Munat over an alleged scam in upgrading the state's road network.
Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Mohammad Akbar (Cong) demanded a judicial inquiry or a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into selection of a company for partnership in a joint venture for the upgradation under an annuity scheme.
Alleging large-scale irregularities in the deal, he reiterated that it was finalised sans obtaining prior cabinet approval and clearance from the Finance Department.
As Congress members raised slogans demanding Mr Munat's resignation, Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey said, ''it is not proper on part of the opposition to raise the issue without giving notice.'' As slogan-shouting continued, the Speaker adjourned the house for ten minutes.
