CBI files monthly development report in High Court

Ranchi, Nov 30 (UNI) The CBI today submitted its monthly status report, from September 28 to October 27, before the monitoring bench in connection with the multi-crore animal husbandry scam unearthed in 1990.

The status report had been submitted to Jharkhand High court folllowing an earlier order of the court.

The court had directed the CBI to inform on monthly basis by submitting status report about the development taken in connection with the animal husbandry cases.

The order for submitting the status report by the CBI was given by the monitoring bench during the course of argument in a writ petition filed by Lalan Singh alias Rajeev Ranjan.

A monitoring bench was constituted for the Animal Husbandry cases.

Mr Rajesh Kumar appearing on behalf of the CBI informed the court that there were seven CBI special courts in Ranchi and so far out of 7180 prosecution witnesses only 3624 had been examined.

There were 55 fodder scam cases out of which two had been closed because the accused died. The accused of 21 cases had been convicted.

The 23 cases were on the prosecution stage and one case was on appearance stage, four cases on 313 Cr Pc stage, two cases on defense stage and the remaining two cases were on argument stage.

Earlier, the CBI had also submitted its monthly progress report of the period betwen August 24 to September 20.
