Panaji, Nov 30 (UNI) Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's first English film 'The Last Lear' directed by noted Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh was premiered at the 38th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here tonight.

Even though Bachchan chose to remain absent from the screening despite presenting the film at the Toronto film festival, the director, along with other actors Shefali Shah, Divya Dutta was present and walked the 'red carpet'.

The film screening was the most eagerly awaited event at the festival with majority of delegates having booked their tickets much in advance. Media along with the Big B fans was disappointed over his failure to turn up for the event. All the four theatres of INOX screened the film simultaneously.

Bachchan plays a recluse, ecentric and passionate Shakespearean stage actor in the film. Arjun Rampal and Preity Zinta are the other prominent actors in the film.
