Sugar prices rise on shortage of ready stocks

Navi Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) Wholesale spot sugar prices rallied for the fourth consecutive day today by Rs 15 per quintal on sustained buying support from bulk consumers and sweetmakers due to reduced arrival of stocks from co-operative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchant's Association said.

Prices of Small and Medium grades (per quintal) were up again by Rs 15 and Rs ten respectively due to lack of offers from stockists.

Sugar in Ex-mill, Small and Medium grades (per quintal) also hardened further by Rs five each on brisk buying support from big dealers, traders added.

Following are the spot wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,340/1,396, Medium grade: Rs 1,380/1,470.

Ex-mill Small grade: Rs 1,315/1,350 and Medium grade: Rs 1,360/1,420.
