Ranchi, Nov 29 (UNI) Cricket lovers in Jharkhand today protested the proposed appointment of a foreign coach for Indian team, saying that BCCI had not yet learnt lessons from the past mistake.

Jharkhand Olympic Association member Ajay Ray led a group of sports lovers, who gathered at Elbart Ekka chowk here and burnt the effigy of Board Of Control for Cricket in India president Sharad Pawar, saying Lalchand Rajput, who helped India win Twenty-20 World Cup, was undermined despite his stupendous stint.

They said the BCCI instead of honouring Rajput again was trying to bring a coach.

According to newspaper reports, the name of Gary Kirsten, former South African crickter was doing the round to take over as the coach of Indian cricket team.

Ray said from the past experience, particularly the Greg Chappell stint, it was seen that politics and controversies had marred the game, but the BCCI was ignoring all these.

They urged the BCCI to reconsider its decision.
